Tweaking the Myths
Gingham and Chicks…and I’m not talking about the barnyard variety of chicken.
I have a large number of vintage transfers made for the home ceramic hobbyist during past decades. As society limited women, so did the ceramic field…and this is reflected in many of the transfer images.
I like to alter them by using them casually, whimsically or in a tongue-in-cheek manner. Sometimes, I like to be a bit more pointed.
This is very kitsch…cute little unaware chicks with that traditional red and white tablecloth, groundcloth of tradition. Those were the days.
I did crop out the rooster that was minding them.

Moving again, on buttons. Every single time I think I cannot possibly make one more variation using what I’ve got on hand, I make myself a liar within 24 hours.
I’ve begun to think the thought itself initiates the new.
